Prof. Benny Lim
Benny Lim (Singaporean) is an academic, cultural mediator, and theatre practitioner. He is currently a Professional Consultant and Director of the Master of Arts in Cultural Management programme in the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). His previous academic full-time appointments include: Associate Professor & Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Berjaya University College Malaysia (BUC); Assistant Professor of Cultural Studies, CUHK; Head of School of Communication and Creative Arts, KDU University College (Malaysia); Lecturer of Arts Management, LASALLE College of the Arts (Singapore).
Benny is affiliated (by invitation) to UniPegaso (Italy) as Adjunct Professor and The Design School of Taylor’s University (Malaysia) as Visiting Professor. He was an Adjunct Associate Professor of Cultural Studies, CUHK (2020), Visiting Scholar of Peking University’s Institute of Cultural Industries (2019-2020), Honorary Research Fellow of University of Nottingham’s (Malaysia) Asia Research Institute (2019), and Visiting Assistant Professor of Macau’s Institute of Tourism Studies (2015-2016).
Since 2001, he has developed an extensive creative and curatorial portfolio comprising of theatrical works and arts festivals. Between 2014 and 2016, he was a Board Member of Justice Centre Hong Kong, a non-governmental organization providing assistance to refugees and migrant workers. He has also served as an Advisory Board Member of CUHK Shenzhen’s auditorium and concert hall development since 2016. He is currently the Board Chair of Along the Edge Limited (HK).
Benny obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from University of South Wales (formerly known as University of Glamorgan) in 2012.
